FAQs and Documentation on How to setup and use your child’s Google Account
Users should set their own password recovery phone or alternate email address as an option to recover/reset their forgotten or lost password.
Learn how to set up a working phone/alternate email that you own for setting up the self recovery of password option on this link:

Once you have completed the steps mentioned in the link above, you should be able to recover/reset your lost or forgotten password on your own when required.
Note: To implement the self recovery options, you will be required to sign in to you account with the existing password. So make sure you have access to the current password before proceeding with the self recovery setup.

I have received an email from Classroom Admin Amrit Jyoti School. What do I do now?
The email contains the Google Account (Email address) of your child (ending in @amritjyoti.ac.in) and its password.
For Smart phone/Tablet users:
Step 1: Add this Google Account in your device. Refer Help Documentation given on this page.
Step 2: Make the Google Account of your child as the default/primary account in the device. You can check this from the Play Store. Open Play Store and tap on the upper right corner (on the alphabet). A list of all accounts configured in the phone will appear. The account ending with @amritjyoti.ac.in should be the first in the list.
Step 3: Remove and re-install Google Meet for attending online classes. When opening Google Meet for the first time after re-installing, select the Google Account ending with @amritjyoti.ac.in
For Laptop/Desktop users:
Refer the FAQ titled “How do I use the Google Account on a laptop?” given below.
Do I need to configure the Google Account given by the school?
Yes. In order to have a one to one interaction with the student, each student has been assigned an individual Google Account which will be used for all online activities like attending Online classes using Google Meet, receiving and submitting classwork, homework, assignment and tests and for internal communication.
How do I configure the Google Account on my Smart phone?
That is very easy. Follow the steps given in the Help Documentation (Refer the Help Documentation Section below for more details).
Why am I asked to create a Work Profile?
While setting up the Google Account in your mobile device you will be asked to have a separate work profile. For a general understanding, a work profile is like having a separate user on the same device. When you choose to have a work profile, you’ll have to switch between the two profiles (Google Accounts) from the Play store as per your usage. It you’re not conversant with switching between profiles, it is good to avoid setting up a work profile.
Can I configure my child’s Google Account on more than one Smart phone/Tablet?
NO. As a policy, one Google Account is to be configured on ONE SMART PHONE/TABLET ONLY. You are free to use the account from a laptop though. The automated system detects accounts that are configured on more than one mobile devices (tablets/smartphones) and removes them from ALL devices. You will then have to reconfigure the account on only one device.
Can I join a lecture using Google Meet with multiple devices (from my mobile device and my laptop)?
NO. This is STRICTLY not allowed.
I’m facing difficulty configuring the Google Account on my Smart phone. What should I do?
Most of the times, the reason is a PIN or pattern lock has not been setup on the phone. It is written in the documentation… just in case. (Sometimes the phone is not locked)
I’m not able to join a class using Google Meet. What Should I do?
To be able to join a meeting using Google Meet, ensure the following:
a) The school’s Google Account is the primary account selected on your Smart phone. Check this in the Play Store by opening play store and tapping on the upper right corner. In the list, the Google Account ending with @amritjyoti.ac.in has to be on the top.
b) A PIN or pattern lock has been setup on the phone.
c) If Google Meet has already been installed, remove and re-install it. After re-installing it, open Google Meet and select the Google Account ending with @amritjyoti.ac.in
How do I use the Google Account on a laptop?
A. Very simple. Follow the guide below.
a) Visit http://webmail.amritjyoti.ac.in and login with the username (without @amritjyoti.ac.in) and password given to you.
b) Click on the Google Apps (Those 9 dots in grey on the upper right corner!). Then select Meet to join a meeting or Classroom to join a class.
I have received a link to a Google Form. How can I respond to it?
Google Forms can be responded using a browser App like Chrome or Firefox. You have to simply tap on the link that you have received. The default App associated to links will now open and you’ll be able to respond to the Google Form.
To respond to a Google Form from Amrit Jyoti School, you’ll have to sign into your AJS Google Account (ending in @amritjyoti.ac.in). On a mobile device, it is possible that you may have signed into multiple accounts that are configured on your phone.
Please sign out of all accounts and sign in to only the Amrit Jyoti School account (ending in @amritjyoti.ac.in).
After responding to the Google Form, you may sign out of your account.
I am getting a “You need Permission” error message when I try to open a Google Form link. What should I do?
Please sign out of all accounts and sign in to only the Amrit Jyoti School account (ending in @amritjyoti.ac.in).
How can I sign in and/or sign out of Google Chrome on Android?
Sign in to Chrome
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app
. If you don’t yet have the Google Chrome app, download it from Google Play.
- To the right of the address bar, tap More
Settings
Sign in to Chrome.
- Tap the account you want to use.
- Tap Continue
OK, Got it.
Sign out of Chrome
After signing out, you can still see your bookmarks, history, passwords, and other settings. But if you make any changes, they won’t be saved to your Google Account and synced to your other devices.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app
.
- To the right of the address bar, tap More
Settings.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Sign out of Chrome.
I’ve tried everything but am not able to connect. Whom should I contact?

Are Google Meet and Google Classroom codes the same?
No. A Google Meet code would be something like this: xxx-xxxx-xxx. Mostly, you just have to tap the link that you have received and choose to open the link with Google Meet. In case you are asked to enter the meeting code, enter the code as per the pattern with or without the hyphen (-).
A Google Classroom code is something different. It is used to join a class. You have to be careful while joining a class as each subject has a different code for each class. Standard and Division wise Google Classroom class codes are given on this page.
I joined a wrong class. What do I do?
You should unenroll yourself from the class by clicking/tapping the 3 dots (vertical) on the class and selecting the “Unenroll” option.

To install C compiler in Ubuntu:
Step 1: Open Terminal (Ctrl+T)
Step 2: Type the following commands one by one:
a) sudo apt-get update
b) sudo apt-get upgrade
c) sudo apt-get install scite (This is to install SciTe. If it is already installed, skip this step)
d) sudo apt-get install build-essential
e) sudo apt-get install manpages-dev
Step 3: Type the following command to check if the GCC complier has been installed:
gcc –version
Step 4: Type the following command:
a) sudo gedit /usr/share/scite/cpp.
This will open the cpp.properties file for editing.
Scroll down to the section where you see code similar to this:

This will open the cpp.properties file for editing.
Scroll down to the section where you see code similar to this:

Just below the above code, you’ll find lines similar to the following:
# To make the Go command both compile (if needed) and execute, use this setting:
# command.go.needs.*.c=gcc $(ccopts) -std=c99 $(FileNameExt) -o $(FileName)
Remove the comment (#) before the second line so that it looks like this:
command.go.needs.*.c=gcc $(ccopts) -std=c99 $(FileNameExt) -o $(FileName)
Step 5: Save the file and close Gedit
Step 6: Close Terminal
You’re now ready to start programming in C.
